This class serves as a hands-on opportunity to design and analyze original survey / survey experimental data in a broad national sample of Americans. Students will come to the class with basic design ideas for a study that benefits their area of research and will work collectively with the instructor and with other students to implement their study as part of a class wide survey. In the process, we will learn about best practices in questionnaire construction, sample recruitment, preregistering study designs, pretesting survey measures, examining data quality, conducting data analyses, and writing up methods and results. Class meetings will be split between discussions of key literature on study design and working sessions where students collaboratively assemble and analyze a class study.
